What are Protein and amino acids?

The Proteins are large complex molecules that play many critical roles in your body.

In the simple word, we can say that proteins are responsible for the structure, function, and regulation of your tissues and organs.

The protein is made up of 20 amino acid. the amino acids are building blocks of protein.

The amino acids are divided into 2 categories.

  1. Essential amino acids.
  2. Non-essential amino acids.

Plant Protein Vs Animal Protein: Difference

To function at an optimal level your body needs all the 9 essential amino acids.

The Plant protein sources such as Lentils, Soya bean, Broccoli lack one or more essential amino acids out of 9 essential amino acids Required by your body

On the other hand, the Animal Protein Sources such as Egg, Fish, Meat, poultry, contain all the essential amino acids Required by your body.

So the quality of Animal-based Protein is much high as compared to plant-based protein. because animal-based protein contains all the essential amino acid required by your body.

Which one is better For Muscle Building?plant protein vs animal protein

The plant-based protein Doesn’t contain the complete profile of all 9 essential amino acids.

The Animal Based protein contains the complete profile of all the 9 essential amino acids,  So, it is more beneficial for fast recovery and growth of muscles as compared to Plant-based protein.

But it Doesn’t mean that you can’t build muscle on A plant-based protein diet.

You can also build muscle on the plant-based protein diet. but the progress will be slower.

Certain bodybuilders such as Jim Moris, Bill Pearl, have proved that a good physique can be built on the plant-based protein.

So, here what I mean to say that Building muscle on animal-based protein has some extra advantage over plant-based protein. But you can still build muscle on Plant-based protein.

Plant Protein vs Animal protein: Conclusion

Whether you consume plant protein or you consume animal protein both of them have their separate advantages and disadvantage.

If you talk about bodybuilding, yes, of course, the animal protein has some extra advantages over the plant protein.

As I have already explained above that the amino acid profile is complete in animal protein whereas it is incomplete in plant protein and this is the only reason that animal-based protein is more beneficial for building muscle.

But it doesn’t mean that plant protein is useless and it is not good enough to build muscle.

you can quickly build muscle on a plant-based protein diet if you consume it in the right way.

you can make the right combination of different plant-based food to make their amino acid profile complete.

For Example, you can combine legumes with whole grain, or nuts and seeds with legumes to make the complete amino acid profile.
